Thank you for your interest in becoming a Dream Angel to one of our Permanent Resident ferrets at Ferret Dreams Rescue!
As a Dream Angel, you commit to sending a minimum of $20 a month or $100 today to Ferret Dreams Rescue to help support the care of a particular ferret. We request that Dream Angels commit to supporting their ferret for a minimum of 6 months.
Becoming a sponsor also allows you to visit your Permanent Resident monthly to spoil them with attention, toys, and treats. While monthly visits are a perk of sponsorship, they are not required to become a Dream Angel. Sponsors are also informed of their ferret’s foods, supplements, and supplies in the event they feel inspired to contribute to their daily care.
Dream Angels will receive periodic updates on their chosen Permanent Resident. This will include health issues, vet visits, new ferret friends and fun photos.
Benjamin entered the shelter as a stray last summer. He was in such rough shape, we thought he was 7 years old! Evaluation from our vet revealed he was only 4 at the time.
Benjamin regularly has severe swelling in his face and front paws. We have ruled out allergies and bug bites but are still stumped on the cause. His symptoms are currently managed by oral steroids. Ferret Dreams has only seen this type of facial swelling once before in our nearly 20 years of operation.
Benjamin recently had a sudden bout of aggression towards his cage mates. We suspected this was due to adrenal disease, which is something we see frequently in our ferrets. A deslorelin implant brought him back to his old self and he’s now getting along with his buddies just fine.
Cornelius is one of the most elderly ferrets here at Ferret Dreams. He is at least eight years old.
Cornelius was in bad shape when he arrived at Ferret Dreams. He had several medical issues that required extensive treatment. He has since recovered and was doing well for quite a while.
Unfortunately, his age has caught up with him and he is slowing down.
We have integrated him into a larger group of ferrets that are of similar age, health, and mobility so he has many ferrets to keep him company for the days he has left.
Niffler was recently transferred from the Denver Dumb Friends League. He is blind and is suspected to have adrenal disease. Niffler has bounced around between several homes. His original owners surrendered him because they were having a baby back in 2019. He was adopted but surrendered again in January of this year because his second owner adopted a dog that is prey aggressive.
At Ferret Dreams, Niffler is now able to get the medical care, love, and companionship he needs without worrying about losing his home ever again.
We have also integrated him into a larger group of ferrets that are of similar age, health, and mobility so he has many ferrets to always keep him company.
Octavia is a spunky girl!
She is incredibly playful and surprisingly bouncy for her age. She loves to be the alpha female of her large playgroup.
Octavia had a normal life but a secret toy her owners did not know about. She liked to play with the rubber handle of the pressure relief valve on her human's water heater. As we all know, ferrets can be quite persistent over time. Eventually the handle loosened, resulting in serious injury. Each of Octavia's feet were burned and permanently deformed.
Today, Octavia still requires specialized care. She is no longer able to climb like the average ferret, and her nail trims must be performed by a veterinarian.
Momo and Appa were very sick when they arrived at the shelter in March of 2023.
Momo has a gastrointestinal version of coronavirus, which is commonly seen in ferrets. She has also been plagued by a recurrent helicobacter infection.
Momo requires twice daily medications and hand feedings of (Oxbow) Carnivore Care to ensure she is consuming enough calories. She is limited in her daily activities due to her poor health. She has good days and bad days but is loved by the staff here on all of them.
Appa has adrenal disease, which is treatable with an annual implant. She is more active than her sister but is always happy to snuggle her at the end of their playtime.
Oddie is a charming little goofball! He entered the shelter with his bonded mate, Coco. After she had passed away from insulinoma, we tried integrating him with other ferrets but he prefers the company of other humans instead. He is very people-oriented and would rather chillax with the humans than play with toys. His original owner housed him outside, but he is now enjoying his life as an indoor pet.
Oddie has recently been diagnosed with adrenal disease but has received his deslorelin implant and should be feeling much better. He has also begun to develop small mast cell tumors that periodically require removal by our vet.
Ollie is one of the few Permanent Residents that are here due to behavioral issues. Ollie is what we call a “severe biter.” He bites all the staff here at Ferret Dreams. Due to his behavior, he is not eligible for Dream Angel visits.
Ollie entered the rescue with a bonded mate who unfortunately passed away several months ago.
Ollie is very playful but dislikes all other ferrets. He does enjoy playing with humans, especially chasing them around the house. He is healthy, handsome, and irresistible.
